How will you help build the city of the future?

The City 2.0 is a unique platform created by the TED Prize to allow citizens anywhere to participate in the creation of their City 2.0. It will become an ever-expanding network of citizen-led experiments, with the ability to scale successes and learn lessons from failures.

30 days challenge and good citizenship

This topic suits as I am currently doing my own 30 days challenge together with my girlfriend triggered by a TED talk we saw. The things are easier said than done but I recommend everyone to think about a 30 days challenge and just do it. The GOOD magazine is doing it too with the leitmotiv of good citizenship with some funny tasks (Introduce yourself to your neighbour, letter to the editor, get a library card…) but also with tasks we actually should do but forget about it (register to volunteer, register to vote, help someone today, research the people and organizations working on your issues…) . The happy secret to better work

While browsing through the TED talks I stumbled upon this video. First I thought I do not want to see another “how-to-be-happy” instructions but finally gave it a try after reading the intro. And it was totally worth it and thus the reason I want to share it. Not only because Shawn Achor’s speech is hilarious and he could easily work as stand-up comedian, but most importantly because he uses a different viewing angle to look at happiness. Watch and think about it!

Why the world needs WikiLeaks

There is a very interesting interview on TED with WikiLeaks’ founder and creator Julian Assange. He speaks about the recently on WikiLeaks published diaries of the American operations in Afghanistan, what drives him and the importance and thus influence of such information. See also my entry about press freedom last year on this topic.

I share, therefore I am.
